Here we are at another round of freebies from the month that has just passed, with enough material to get inspiration from.

AudioThing has updated its Filterjam to version 1.1.0, adding VST3 to plugin formats, preset copy/paste function, resizable window and a couple of improves and fixes. Filterjam is a multi-band resonant filter delivering weird ringmod-like filtered sounds. Harsh or gentle, it can add brightness or depth to synth sounds, but it can also completely mangle acoustic sources.

Diminished Audio has released Infektion 2, a free sample pack featuring raw Access Virus Ti samples that leave plenty for processing and ideal for Neurofunk and Drum & Bass. The samples can be downloaded after you register for a (free) account at Diminished Audio.

Blue Smoke Audio has released YAX 15P, a free VST instrument based on the Yamaha CS-15 mono synth. This virtual instrument is 32-bit VST2 only (made with Synthedit 1.1), and includes 30 presets based on patch-sheets in the user manuals, which can be downloaded from the Yamaha website, archive.org or many other places. In order to download the plugin, you have to register or login for free at Music Society forum.

Another update is version 1.6.1 of Devil Reverb, a free and simple reverb plugin for Windows, perfect to add warmth to the sound. The update brings an improved reverb sound which now adds better harmonics to tracks.

French developer Boscomac returns with Inity Delay, a free effect for Native Instruments Reaktor. It simulates the dub effect used by guitarists, except that Inity Delay has 3 delay lines with independent settings for the time, feedback and filter. It also offers effects such as Psycho Pan, Tape Wobble, Phaser Chief or Cloud Smoke – perfect for unique dubby atmospheres.

Matthieu Brucher has announced the update of ATK Side-Chain Compressor (v3.0.0). Now it has new storage format and allows linked channels to be steered by a mix of power coming from each channel, each passing through its own attack-release filter. It enables more creative workflows with makeup gain specific to each channel.

Transient Impact: Lite Edition by Patchwork Sounds is a free drum kit for RnB, Pop, Trip Hop, EDM etc, containing 12 tight & gated samples which focus on quick transients and snappy percussion. All samples are in 24bit WAV format. In detail, you will receive 3 hi-hats, 2 kicks, 3 percussions and 4 snares.

Irrupt has released Supersounds, a “collective snapshot of Berlin’s ever-evolving electronic music scene”. The huge collection is packed with 412 various samples recorded from modular rigs and hardware at the Irrupt Studio in Berlin. Together, they recorded their favorite patches and spontaneous inspirations to create a collection of royalty free loops and one-shot samples to celebrate Superbooth 18.

Ghosthack returns with Free Taster Pack, a new freebie that includes top-notch sounds and loops from soundbanks like Drum Hero 1 and 2, Abstract Drums, Hybrid Trap Essentials, Pads and FX, Dubstep Bass Arsenal and Downtempo Lounge. There are 75 drum one-shots and loops, atmospheric pads, risers, SFX, heavy basslines, percussions and some lush melodic sounds. All files are royalty free as usual, ideal for your productions in music, movies, media and games.

BBC offers 16,016 sound effects in WAV format to download for personal, educational or research purposes, as detailed in the license. The archive is tagged, also each sound has description and preview. You can use the search field and find everything from engines to animal sounds, crowds to military sounds, glass breaking or camera sounds.

PastToFutureSamples has released The Beach Vocals, a free NI Kontakt library of ethereal and dreamy sounding vocals singing “Oohs” and “Yeaahs”. Each time you press a key there’s a different round robin. Triple tracked to give the stacked 60’s vocal sound.

Derrek has announced Avicii Remastered, a free collection of Spire and Serum presets that pays tribute to the Swedish artist. You will find some of his popular signature sounds such as the arp from Levels, the lead from Bromance, the pluck from Waiting For Love and much more. The download is direct, registration isn’t required.
