EAS Audio has released Tape Stop, a free tape emulation effect plugin for DAWs and other plugin hosts on Windows.
TapeStop emulates the warping effect of stopping a reel-to-reel tape machine while playing. Stopping the “virtual tape” will progressively slow the affected track down to a complete halt while starting the virtual tape again will accelerate the playback up to normal speed.
Unlike a physical tape machine though, TapeStop ensures that once restarted, the affected track remains aligned with the rest of the project, as if it had never been stopped.
Start and stop times are adjustable up to 2 seconds and can “snap” to (fractions of) the beat allowing for simple and precise automation control.
Tape Stop is available in VST3 plugin format for Windows only.
