Ben Burnes has released Crunchy D, a new Kontakt library that gets source audio from the Behringer Model D and a bunch of effects.
Crunchy D is available under a pay-what-you-want pricing system ($2.99 minimum) but throughout the month of April, you can download it for free.
Ben Burnes told us:
Continuing my quest to create Kontakt instruments, this time I wanted to focus on creating and manipulating effect chains. I’m really proud of how this one came out!
Source audio for this instrument is pulled from my Behringer Model D then run through a bevy of effects. To control the effects, I created a handful of ambiguous knobs like Cronch and Thicc. I love these kinds of knobs because it encourages exploration and experimentation over “turn up distortion 10%”.
Plus, I’m really digging into how the instrument looks in general.
This instrument is capable of some versatile and lush basses and leads. It really shines with those solo instruments, but you can also tweak in some cool pads.
This library is compatible with Kontakt 5 and above (full version only). If you don’t use Kontakt, you can download the raw samples used to make the instrument as a ZIP file as well.
In order to download the library for free, go to Ben Burnes Gumroad and use coupon code BigD at checkout. The free offer is valid until April 30.
