Ben Burnes has announced the release of Pocket Friend, a free (for a limited time) lo-fi Chiptune instrument for NI Kontakt.
The freebie instrument features sound captured from Teenage Engineering’s Pocket Operator portable synths.
Ben told us:
“This month I wanted to learn how to make nicer-looking Kontakt interfaces. This includes custom images and ease of use things. I feel like before you even know what something sounds like, the visuals decide whether it’s something you want to use. From the mesmerizing animations of Thermal to the minimalistic layout of Felt Instruments, I love the idea of having a visual space to showcase the audio.
This time I took some of my favorite sounds from the Teenage Engineering Pocket Operator synths. I love these little guys and how dynamic and varied their sound can get. I wanted to have a simple interface to fade between four different sounds as well as a dedicated Decay knob so you can make different sounds. You can download this pack for free using the coupon code on the pack’s page.”
Pocket Friend sample library is compatible with Kontakt 5 and above. If you don’t have/use Kontakt, you can download the raw WAV samples used to make the instrument as a ZIP file as well.
In order to download it for free, use coupon code Chippy at checkout. The free offer is valid throughout the month of March 2021.
