Moki-Moki Ios has released Beat Chopper, a free VST plugin that allows you to load an audio sample, split it, and trigger it from various positions by MIDI.
Beat Chopper is a fun plugin for creating drum patterns and music grooves from loops. Hit the “Load Sample” button and choose the loop you want to use. Next, adjust the DAW tempo according to the loop you just imported.
You have two main controls, the “Splitting” and “Speed”. First lets you split the sample evenly into 4, 8, 16 or 32 sequences, or use the automatic split detection that is based on volume gaps. The other control is a speed selector with two states, normal and half speed. The waveform display shows the chop points and the current playing position. And that’s pretty much it.
Beat Chopper is a great tool for slicing up a beat sample and make variations of it. However, you don’t have to limit yourself just to drum loops – use your imagination and chop up, for example, a guitar riff.
The plugin supports only loading of WAV files and is available as 32-bit VST plugin for Windows. You can load it in 64-bit DAW’s using jBridge or similar software.
Beat Chopper is a free download at Moki-Moki Ios website.
