This period of the year is a heaven for the freebies and bargains hunters, so in the following, I will help a little with some of the best findings.
Soundventor is giving away a free Kontakt instrument to complement their commercial RSB library that combines the sound of synthesizer basses with life and dynamic action of acoustic/electric instruments. RSB-Free is the 9th instrument with same features – meaning interface, articulations, effects and presets, as the 8 instruments included in the paid product.
The Synth Presets have released The Bass Project, a free soundbank for OB-Xd freeware software synthesizer. OB-Xd is an emulation of famous OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 synths and made some buzz in 2016 when launched. If you don’t have it installed, you can get it for free here. Back to the soundbank, according to its author, it is designed only for bass sounds, with the mention the presets are very dynamic and require some compression.
TBProAudio is offering Isol8 is a mix monitoring plugin designed to be used on the master track, as well as individual busses. Isol8 divides the frequency range into 5 bands that can be soloed or muted individually. Use it to concentrate on certain frequency ranges during the mixing and mastering process. IMI Products has released Chorus, a free and simple chorus effect plugin for Windows (VST/32-bit). It features rate and depth to control the speed and strength of the effect, as well as mix knob to set the effect passing to the output. If you’re looking for field recordings, Mindful Audio is giving away a huge collection of free samples captured from trips in various countries including England, Romania, Scotland and Senegal. Expect a lot of nature and wildlife recordings, along with vehicle and aircraft sounds. The freebie will only be up until the end of January so get it asap.
Music producer Derrek has bundled all his free releases of 2017 and added a bonus of sounds taken from commercial packs. The result is Rewind 2017, which comprises in one single download free FLP files, Serum, Spire & Massive presets, MIDI files and drum samples.
