Sonic Bloom has announced the release of Free SB Mellotron Samples, a free collection of sounds captured from a polyphonic tape replay keyboard from 1963.
Since I was asked quite often if the samples of the Mellotron Live Packs were also available on their own, I’m releasing them today for everyone to use.
In case, you don’t know what a Mellotron is, it’s an electro-mechanical, polyphonic tape replay keyboard from 1963 that the Beatles made popular by using it in their song “Strawberry Fields Forever”.
In detail, you will receive woodwinds, various strings and string section, brass, flute and choir from various Mellotron versions. Each note is individually sampled to recreate the unique sound of the Mellotron. There are 10 different instruments in total, each having its WAV files in separate folders.
Free SB Mellotron Samples is available at Sonic Bloom website (via Gumroad). To get it for free, at Gumroad simply add a “0” into the price field, unless you would like to donate something to the author (Madeleine Bloom), which is always appreciated. Download size is 216MB.
These wav samples are well worth a small donation.
As soon as I had the “choir” folder inside EXS24, simply playing with the attack and release on the amplitude envelope yielded stunning results, and after adding some custom made reverb from space designer, I was in heaven.
My thanks to Madeleine

I’ve compared these samples to the ones I made from my M400S. These are definitely my samples, but I don’t remember being asked permission to use them.
Hi Bernie, we are not the authors of this free pack, we only made a news about the release. Please address your issue to the author at https://sonicbloom.net/en/contact/
