Embertone has announced that its Ivory Wind – sample library for Native Instruments Kontakt, is now available as freeware.

Ivory Wind is an instrument for Kontakt 4.2.4 and above, featuring an 80-year old wooden/ivory instrument. It has distinctive and rich tone, true legato, plus modwheel controls vibrato.

What would you do if you had the opportunity to sample an 80-year old tenor recorder made of REAL ivory and wood?…

… That’s right, you’d do it.

We couldn’t believe how well this instrument came out. It was our first experiment with legato programming, and once the vibrato was implemented, it was love at first listen. If you’re looking for a natural, emotional wind instrument, this is just what the doctor ordered!

Audio demos:

Ivory Wind consists of 1 NKI file with 67 recorded samples (44.1Khz / 24 bit stereo). The size is 61MB installed, 43MB .RAR download file. Full version of Kontakt 4.2.4 and above is required (with the free Kontakt Player will only work for 30 minutes).
