Matt Tytel‘s Helm is a new free synthesizer that runs on both stand-alone and as a VST/ AU/ AAX/ LV2 plugin on Windows, Mac and Linux (32 and 64 bit).
Helm has 32 voice polyphony and comes with an interactive visual interface. Most appealing features are the cross-modulation between the two oscillators, 12 different waveforms, 7 filter types with keytracking, step sequencer and a bunch of effect modules including formant filter, stutter and delay.
The current version 0.4.1 beta adds some new features including Audio/MIDI settings (located under the logo button) and retrigger for LFOs. The author also fixed some bugs, making Helm more stable.
The Helm synthesizer is an open source project, (if you are interested) you may like to take a look at the source code, change it and make some experiments. The synthesizer is still in beta phase, but you can already download it on Matt Tytel’s website and take it for a test drive.
The download size is circa 5MB (distributed as a MSI installer).
