IsoRhythm has released IsoRhythm Kicks Christmas’s Ass, a free sample pack containing 21 Kick Drums sourced directly from an Elektron Machinedrum SPS-I.
The recording chain was simply the Machinedrum into a DBX 160x compressor, 2:1 ratio, about 6db of gain reduction (varied slightly per kick), directly into the line in’s of an Avid Omni. About half of the samples are totally straight from the recording, plus some eq and compression, and the other half are kicks from the Machinedrum layered together.Â
